FORCE FOR GOOD
Compelling Desire
There is no life without money, but life is not all about money. The goal of financial planning is to achieve financial independence. Beyond satisfying personal needs, financial plans include ways to distribute one’s surplus for the benefit of others. Each of us has only 24 hours in a day and we can only consume so much; but we can leverage on our money to help many more people in many more places.
Anthony Robbins identifies six human needs. The fifth need is the need to grow and the sixth need is the need to contribute beyond oneself. He calls these last two needs the Rules of Life. This means that without these, you will die. For man to live and thrive, he must continue to grow personally and make a difference to others.
Nourish The Children
In 2002, Nu Skin took action to address the tragedy of childhood hunger by starting the Nourish the Children initiative. This innovative social enterprise applies the rigor of successful business practices to provide a consistent and growing supply of nourishing food to the world’s most needy children.
The Nourish the Children initiative partners with charities that specialize in distributing food to those in the greatest need. Nourish the Children only partners with organizations that have a demonstrated ability to work effectively with local governments to get food to those in need. Through Nourish the Children’s “report back” agreements with its humanitarian relief partners, the company helps to ensure that the food donated will be delivered to those in need.
These partner charities leverage the positive impact of VitaMeal donations. For example, in China, Haiti, Malawi, and the Philippines, VitaMeal is part of school lunch programs that encourages families to send their children to school. Nourish the Children has also built VitaMeal plants in Malawi and China to reduce transportation costs and boost local economies. VitaMeal is used in many ways to help malnourished children and has become more than just a meal; it brings hope to many young lives around the world.
The concept succeeds by selling a highly nutritious food—VitaMeal —and then allowing people to donate their purchase to third-party, nonprofit organizations that specialize in distributing food to those suffering from malnutrition and famine. Nourish the Children applies the power of the Nu Skin distribution network by encouraging distributors, customers and employees to purchase VitaMeal and donate it.

Jackie and James Chia personally visited Malawi to observe the distribution of VitaMeal in August 2012. Go for a presentation explaining a sustainable program to educate and empower families and villages.
